I pledged and stick to this pledged and They thanked me for it. But back again I thank them for appreciating of what I contributed with.

Here’s what they gave me:

firefox3

firefox3

It’s a certification, a pdf file. Even though, I prefer this than giving me money (Hay I’m not a microsoft user :D). This is how to keep your customers ;)

Encoding of MDB Tool

Mdb tool is a strong tool to convert your mdb files (microsoft access database files) to any other format. I had a problems with mdb tool with encoding.

I had a files of “bok” extension, by they are mdb files. those files are uft-8 but the content is windows-1256 and i don’t know why. Exporting the data of those files gives a corrupted data. and I couldn’t convert the output back again

Finally I gathered the scattered information about mdb-tool and I found that I have to set TWO environment variable, the first one is MDB_ICONV

export MDB_ICONV=utf-8

The other variable related on which JET version you are using

mdb-ver file.mdb

If you have JET3 then set the second env variable MDB_JET3_CHARSET

export MDB_JET_CHARSET=utf-8

After setting the env variables, export the data into csv file for example

mdb-export -q ‘”‘ -d ‘,’ -R ‘\n’ > file.csv

or your can get SQL insert statements:

mdb-export -I -q ‘”‘ -d ‘,’ -R ‘\n’ > file.txt

Gmail to GoogleMail

googlemailgmail logo

Your @gmail.com mail will become @googlemail.

Here’s what Google said about that:

“You may have noticed the Google Mail logo. We are changing our service’s name in the UK. Starting October 19, 2005, all new users will have @googlemail.com addresses. Don’t worry, though – all messages are being sent and delivered as before.

But why they are going to change it?
“Another company has claimed rights to the Gmail name. We have tried to resolve this dispute through negotiations, but our efforts have failed. “

When will you start offering @googlemail.com addresses? When will this change take place?
Starting October 19, 2005, the Gmail service will be renamed Google Mail in the UK. We will no longer issue new @gmail.com addresses. All new addresses will be @googlemail.com addresses.

What if I’m a UK user who already has a Gmail address? Will I also need to change that address?
No, this change doesn’t affect existing Gmail addresses. For now, our plan is only to issue @googlemail.com addresses to new users. Trust that we will do the best we can to offer all our users a reliable and consistent email experience.

So, someday you will start using googlemail instead of gmail. I think its too long so I don’t know what they are going to do about it.

If you didn’t notice there’s a smart thing when you login into your google account. If your mail name has dots, then you can use it without using the dots. For example “Edward.K@googlemail.com” is the same “Edwardk@googlemail.com” ;)

Thousands and Thousands whose passionately watch the German football crowded tonight waiting for their goals. Unfortunately, they didn’t make any tonight.

While the Italian,France and Netherlands fans became Spain fans all of the sudden just because they don’t like the German football. Most of my friends were Spain supporters tonight :P

Spain played perfectly tonight and they were awesome..but we are still the German fans here in Jordan. You still have the glory of playing football.

With his injuries and bleeding, Ballack insisted to continue his playing and I’m big fan of this guy.

Good luck Germany next time :)
