It depends on encoding of your files. I had to set WINDOWS-1252, although my mdb files were made under windows with windows-1250 encoding (central european). Then, opening files under 1252 encoding worked. Opening them as utf with ICONV and JET_CHARSET set to utf didn’t work.

To Karie:
well, D40 is a very good camera and you know that Nikon is the best but what makes Canon better is the price and the features.

the features thing is always the problem when you buy a camera, even among the same brand.

I’m not saying that 450D is the best, but its a good tool to start with photography.

I like Canon ; )

Hey, looks like I’m here for the same reason as John. I want to keep it generally affordable. I’ve been arguing between the XSi or Nikon’s D40. I’ve read some reviews on http://www.timeforadslr.com/ and they both seem pretty stellar. Any advice? Is the few hundred bucks worth it?
